Prayer
A PRAYER FOR ST. DUNSTAN’S
written by St. Dunstan’s Interim Task Force.
Gracious God, thank you for the community of St. Dunstan’s and for calling us to be a part of this holy place. Help us to explore and clarify our identity as your people. May we listen with open minds to each other, to your creation and to you. Give us the grace to understand our part in your church’s mission to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. Please send your Holy Spirit to be a bridge from where we are to where you want us to be. Amen.
PRAYERS FOR THE CHURCH AND FOR GENERAL CONVENTION
For the Church (BCP p. 816)
Gracious Father, we pray for they holy Catholic Church. Fill it
with all truth, in all truth with all peace. Where it is corrupt,
purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in any thing it is
amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in
want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake
of Jesus Christ thy Son our Savior. Amen.
For a Church Convention or Meeting (BCP p. 818)
Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and
understanding, be present with those who take counsel
in our church’s General convention for the renewal and mission of your Church.
Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide
us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to
pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
For the Unity of the Church (BCP p. 818)
O God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our only Savior,
the Prince of Peace: Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the
great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions; take away
all hatred and prejudice, and whatever else may hinder us
from godly union and concord; that, as there is but one Body
and one Spirit, one hope of our calling, one Lord, one Faith,
one Baptism, one God and Father of us all, so we may be all
of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth
and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and
one mouth glorify thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
God, Grant your blessing on all
who join in this General Convention.
By your Spirit give them grace
to listen and grace to speak.
Help them to discover
where you are leading this church.
Give us all a unity in mission
that will enable the church
by its life and witness
to fulfill the ministry you have
entrusted to us,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Adapted from the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer)
