MOM School Supplies Program

Each year Middleton Outreach Ministry (MOM) runs a School Supply Program that provides school-aged children and teens with items that they will need to be successful in the upcoming year. Through the generosity of donors and volunteers, over 600 children will receive a backpack filled with supplies they need. This is one more way that MOM is working to keep families in stable housing, supplying them with the assistance they need to free up financial resources to pay for rent. If you would like to help, please take a copy of the MOM school supply list from church, and use it the next time you shop. All supplies should be at church by Sunday, August 15th, at the latest. Questions? Call Laura Bloomenkranz. Many thanks!

Help People in the Gulf

Help Communities Devastated by Gulf Oil Spill. We will have a special collection Sunday, August 1. Episcopal Community Services of the Diocese of Louisiana (ECSLA) is providing impacted residents in the bayous of Terrebonne with critical support including grocery and gas vouchers, legal assistance, pastoral care and information referrals. The major goals are to meet immediate needs, help people work through their legal claims and increase individual and community resilience in navigating the current challenges. Episcopal Relief & Development is supporting this emergency response.

“ECSLA has been able to leverage their existing ministries and connections and build on the knowledge gained during the Katrina response, which has given them a real advantage in responding to this crisis,” said Katie Mears, Episcopal Relief & Development’s Program Manager for USA Disaster Preparedness and Response.

As the disaster unfolds, Episcopal Relief & Development will work with the Dioceses of Mississippi and the Central Gulf Coast, which are currently conducting needs assessments in areas damaged by the oil spill.

Please donate by writing a check to St. Dunstan’s with “ERD-oil” on the memo line. You may also call 800.334.7626, ext. 5129, or visit www.er-d.org.
