Most of this information can also be found in the Ministries and Activities handbook, including contact information. Some ministries also go by the name committee.

WORSHIP related

  • Acolytes: children and adults who serve at each service on a scheduled basis after going through a training program.
  • Altar Guild: two people work together to prepare the altar for services each week.
  • Chalice Bearers: administer the chalace at Eucharistic services.
  • Choir: leads the music in worship at the 10 a.m. service. Practice is Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 8:45 a.m.
  • Lectors: read the lessons at every service.
  • MCs: help during the service to make sure everything runs smoothly. They also read the prayers of the people.
  • Ushers: distribute bulletins, assist with seating, take the offering, direct traffic during communion, and straighten up after the service.
  • Greeters: greet people arriving at the 10 a.m. service, orient visitors and encourage them to sign the guest book.
  • Worship & Music Committee: has a maximum of 10 members and meets as needed to discuss goals, objectives, program planning, recruitment, staffing, instruments and other resources, and fundraising.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION related

  • Christian Formation Steering Ministry: discusses and helps make decisions about Christian education and spiritual formation.
  • Growing In Faith Together team member: is a trained volunteer position. GIFT is a Sunday-morning program. Team members sign-up to provide a variety of services: breakfast logistics, breakfast food, facilitating formation time, art or drama leader.
  • Education For Ministry: is a four-year program of adult education from the Episcopal seminary at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. An individual makes a 9-month commitment to meet weekly with a seminar group to reflect on how scripture and tradition intersect with daily life and faith.
  • Evangelism
  • Men’s Reading Group: brings together men who enjoy sharing good books and good company. Meetings are held at individual homes approximately every 6 weeks.
  • Women’s Book Group: meets every Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church for stimulating discussion of books that enhance our spirituality.

PARISH LIFE related

  • Coffee Hour: Provides set-up and clean-up for Sunday coffee hour. Other volunteers provide the food.
  • Newcomers’ Team: is dedicated to making those who visit St. Dunstan’s feel welcome.
  • Parish Life Ministry: meets monthly to coordinate activities within the church such as special events, outings, and fundraisers.
  • Knitting Group: meets the first Sunday of the month from 1 to 4 p.m. They share techniques and teach beginners to knit. They also have a Prayer Shawl Ministry.
  • Episcopal Church Women: plans several events for the ladies of the parish, such as a Ladies’ Day Out, Epiphany Luncheon, and a spring program. ECW serves the church by providing hospitality for funerals.

OUTREACH related

  • Outreach Ministry: coordinates the various outreach projects of the church and evaluates and recommends how to distribute the outreach funds.
  • Ride Share: volunteers provide transportation to parishioners who might otherwise not be able to attend Sunday services. No experience or long-term commitment required.
  • Porchlight Shelter: Volunteers from St. Dunstan’s prepare and serve the evening meal on the fourth Sunday of each month and the breakfast the next morning at the men’s drop-in shelter attached to Grace Church.

  • Red Cross One-a-Week Club: has the goal of donating one pint of blood every week throughout the year. Just sign in as a member of St. Dunstan’s when you make your donation.
  • Prayer Chain: parishioners that are a part of the prayer chain pray throughout the week for those people whose names are read during the prayers of the people Sunday morning.
  • Pastoral Care: members of this group are trained to visit Episcopal patients at Meriter Hospital and UW Hospital, as well as sick and shut-in members of the parish if requested.
